Commissioner Ted Edwards Only Candidate to Qualify by Petition in District 5
Orlando, Florida – Orange County Commissioner Ted Edwards was the only candidate in the District 5 election to secure enough signatures to qualify by the petition method. Edwards collected over 1,600 signatures, exceeding the minimum 1,329 petition requirement needed to qualify. This will allow Edwards’ name to be placed on the ballot for the upcoming election on August 30th.
“I am grateful that we were able to collect 20% over the number of required petitions to qualify for this election,” said Edwards. “It is encouraging to know how many supporters we have and I look forward to continuing to earn the support of the community and work hard for our citizens.”
Edwards was elected for a partial term in 2010 and re-elected to his first full term in 2012. He both lives and works in District 5 and practices business law. In 2010 he was voted Orlando’s Best Real Estate Lawyer and in 2014 Orlando Litigation and Zoning Lawyer of the Year. Edwards has 5 children and is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando.
